A self-taught musician for the most part, Mawuli Togbi-Wonyo hails from Togo. He started off by learning how to read music with the help of a church hymnal by observing and studying note durations and pitches through songs with which he was familiar. He also taught himself to play the keyboard and accompanied congregational singing in his father’s church for many years. He later studied church music in the United States. Mawuli is a composer, arranger, and songwriter. He has written dozens of songs for choir in the Ewe language. He now lives in Togo where he is serving as a Baptist missionary and church planter.
